The rated current of the MCB should be reasonable. 

1. The rated current of the MCB should be less than the maximum conductivity of the wire. 

2. Rated current of MCB should be greater than load current.


When the rated current of the air switch is higher than the maximum conductance of the wire, when the line is overloaded, the line current exceeds the current borne by the wire, and does not exceed the rated current of the air switch, the line will heat damage, or even catch fire, and the air switch will not trip, so the rated current of the air switch should be selected below the maximum conductance of the wire.

When choosing the size of the MCB, we should first understand how many square wires can pass the maximum current.


The number of square wire conductivity is not fixed, there are many factors affecting the conductivity of the wire, high temperature, length, pipeline number, humidity, laying mode, running time, will affect the conductivity of the wire, when the overhead bare wire, the conductivity of the wire and will have a significant improvement.


In daily use, there is no special case, but you can have a MCB reference as below:

Lighting circuit

Household lighting circuit USES 1.5 square wire normally, 1.5 square wire guide largest flow of 13.5 A, lighting power generally not more than 200 w, current is not more than 1 A.

The rated current of the MCB is selected greater than the operating current of the lamp and less than the maximum conductivity of the wire. The rated current of MCB shall be set at 1A < rated current of MCB < 13.5A. Lighting circuits usually use a 1P MCB.


The socket

Household sockets usually use 2.5 square wires, and 2.5 square wires have A maximum flow rate of 22.5a. Socket load power in daily use is uncertain. The rated current of the MCB of the socket should be slightly less than the conductance of the wire, and the choice is too small to affect the load driven. Optional rated current of 20A or16A with leakage protection of the MCB.


Air conditioning socket

Air conditioning sockets usually use 2.5 square wires, and the maximum flow of 2.5 square wires is 22.5a. When the air conditioner power is 1.5P, the load current is about 6A. Rated current of MCB shall be greater than 6A and less than 22.5a. Optional rated current of 10A, 16A with leakage protection of the MCB


In short, no matter single-phase or three-phase power, household or industrial power, the rated current selection of the air switch should be less than the maximum conductivity of the wire, greater than the load current
